For what it’s worth, reportedly there are plan for the LDS Church to soon put online the bulk of their video library available for use in the home. My source for information was a reliable third party who had spoken with a representative of the Church’s Audio Visual Department relative to missionary activities.

As it was explained to me, this will put into the hands of the general membership of the Church access to the Church’s complete library of films and video. The collection is said to include such films as have been featured in the Legacy Theater in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building included Legacy, The Testaments of One Fold and One Shepard, and the most recent, Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration.
Personally speaking, it would be fun to see made available the collection of films produced under the Judge Whittaker era at BYU including such classsics as Johnny Lingo. No further details about the speculated release of videos online is available at this time.
This is a step in the right direction, especially as it pertains to video distribution. That the Church continues to recognize and increasingly utilize the viability of online video transfer as a genuine mode of distribution at substantially reduced costs may prepare viewing platforms and influence viewer habits to gravitate even more in the direction of online video distribution.
