Media Literacy – Henry Jenkins, Former MIT Director of Comparative Media Studies

This video is a few years dated at this point (2008), but offers a interesting perspective about approach children, especially teens, using media (video/Internet) as creators.

Towards the end of the video, Professor Jenkins suggests that the way that we get children to become more aware of the media that they are consuming is to allow them to become creators or producers of media themselves. He goes on to then explain that once they know how to create, we can then begin to teach them to think critically about what they are consuming.
